Carers’ Week event attracts record number of Vale carers

Carers visiting the information stalls at Dyffryn

Carers throughout the Vale of Glamorgan attended an event at Dyffryn Gardens on Tuesday 15th June to celebrate Carers’ Week 2010.

This ever popular annual event was organised by Kate Isaac and Joanne Meek of the Vale of Glamorgan Council, with assistance from many caring organisations within the Vale. Carers and their dependent relatives enjoyed a relaxing day, taking advantage of therapies  such as face massage, arts and crafts sessions, and guided walks in the grounds of Dyffryn House. There was an opportunity to visit the many information stalls, and a buffet lunch was provided.

The event at Dyffryn was one of thousands being held throughout the country this week to promote carers’ issues. The theme for Carers’ Week 2010 is ‘A life of my own’, a luxury that many of the UK’s 6 million carers struggle to achieve. Often, carers do not know where to turn when they find themselves caring for a relative or friend, and information days such as the Dyffryn event provide an opportunity for carers to find out what support is available.
