Musical Extravaganza a huge success for Crossroads Care

Dinas Powys Methodist Church was the scene of a very successful ‘Musical Extravaganza’ in aid of Crossroads Care in the Vale on the evening of Thursday 21st October.

Local residents flocked into the church to be welcomed by Martyn Warren, a Trustee of Crossroads Care. Martyn began by thanking the evening’s host, Dennis Dutch, for organising the event to raise funds for the charity, before introducing brass ensemble the  Dinas Powis Ecumenical Seven, conducted by Dr Haydn Jones.

The musical entertainment was well-received by the crowd, and was followed by an opportunity to visit the various trade and information stalls and enjoy refreshments provided by church members. The evening concluded with the Grand Raffle, with some excellent prizes such as a round of golf for four at the Vale Hotel, and a football signed by the Cardiff City team.

The event has so far raised over £1,100, and the funds will now go towards providing support for people with dementia throughout the Vale of Glamorgan, and also their carers. Dennis said “I am delighted that the Musical Extravaganza was such a success. I would like to thank all those who supported the event by buying raffle tickets and attending on the night, the members of Dinas Powys Methodist Church who gave so much help, the Ecumenical Seven for providing excellent entertainment, and also our generous sponsors who donated such wonderful prizes”.

The Event's host, Dennis Dutch, with his daughter Jo Hendry

The fundraising does not stop there however, as Dennis’s daughter, Jo Hendry, a Counsellor with Crossroads Care in the Vale, will be taking part in the Snowdonia Marathon on Saturday 30th October. Jo has already raised over £1,500, and is hoping to reach the £2,000 mark before setting off for North Wales.

If you would like to sponsor Jo, please telephone Crossroads Care in the Vale’s offices on (029) 2070 0057 (option 3) or go to www.justgiving.com/johendry.
