Dyffryn Gardens event supports Vale of Glamorgan carers during Carers’ Week

The marquee at Dyffryn Gardens

There are almost six million carers in the UK, with 1.25 million people providing care for 50 hours a week or more. These are just two of the statistics provided by the organisers and promoters of Carers’ Week 2011, which will run from 13th to 19th June.

The theme: ‘The True Face of Carers’ will help identify the reality of caring in the UK in 2011. Carers will be encouraged to reveal their experiences of caring, both positive and negative, in a survey, and carers’ events will be held up and down the country.

The Vale of Glamorgan Council is once again getting together with various local caring organisations and charities to organise a carers’ information and social event at Dyffryn Gardens from 10.30am until 3pm on Friday 17th June. Based in the marquee, there will be information stands, therapies such as reflexology, guided walks in the grounds, a buffet lunch and musical entertainment.

Admission is by ticket only. If you are a carer living in the Vale of Glamorgan, and would like to attend the event, please email carers@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk or telephone 01446 704732. The deadline for applying for tickets is 3rd June.
