Vale carers brave weather at Carers’ Week Event

Wet and windy weather did not deter carers from attending the annual Carers’ Week event at Dyffryn Gardens on 17th June.

The event, organised by the Vale of Glamorgan Council and several Vale charities, has grown in popularity in recent years, and this year’s gathering was attended by over seventy carers. The aim of Carers’ Week is to highlight the issues and difficulties carers face in their caring role, whilst providing a range of fun and information events for carers to attend.
Despite the weather, there was plenty under cover for carers to do. Representatives from various caring charities and organisations throughout the Vale were on hand to offer information; Owls 4 U brought along some feathered friends; and Jamie Smith of Live Music Now played the accordion for the crowd while they enjoyed a buffet lunch. There were plenty of therapies on offer, such as Indian Head Massage and reflexology, and carers could also ‘pot a plant’ to take home.
