Hello From The Hague

I have been living in the Netherlands for over a month now, and feel very settled here. My husband started work at the International Baccalaureate on 1st August, and I am busy job-hunting. I am also looking into the possibility of doing voluntary work, and have an interview with an expat organisation in September.

We like our apartment. It is light and spacious, and in a good spot for shops, bars and restaurants. We’re just a twenty minute walk from the city centre but we often catch the tram as there is a stop nearby. We’ve joined a gym about ten minutes’ walk from the apartment which also runs exercise classes like spin, pilates etc.  However, the best exercise we have had has been assembling Ikea furniture!

Everyone here speaks very good English but we’ve signed up for a Dutch language course as we want to have a basic knowledge of the language.  Apparently, it’s not an easy language to learn but we’ll give it a go!

I hope you are all doing well. I still miss everyone at Crossroads—colleagues, carers and their families.  But I know you are in safe hands with Matt, and I hope you are enjoying getting to know him.

Best Wishes, Jo Hendry
