New Hearing Project in Barry

Action on Hearing Loss Cymru (formerly the RNID) is starting a new project in Barry for adults who are experiencing hearing loss.  ‘Hear to Meet’ is funded by the Big Lottery and will establish a monthly social get-together for anyone 50+ who has experience of hearing loss.  ‘Hear to Meet’ will meet on the first Friday of the month from 2.30 to 4pm (starting from the 5th October). The group will meet on the First Floor, County Library, King Square.

Hear to Meet will provide a chance to meet new people in a similar situation who understand the challenges a hearing loss can pose.  As well as a regular chance to share experiences, it will provide a local hub for socialising, information and advice on hearing aids and living with hearing loss, plus there will be tea and cake too!

Project on Social Isolation of People with Dementia

The Alzheimer’s Society is researching dementia friendly communities for its 2013  report.   They are conducting a survey which focuses on social isolation of people living with dementia and the support they need to live well in the community.  People may need support with filling in the form (from a family carer) or a carer may fill it in on behalf of the person with dementia but it is essential that the voices of people with dementia are at the heart of this report.  To get a paper copy of the survey and a stamped address envelope contact Laura Cook (Policy Officer) on 020 7423 3578 or get an electronic copy by e mail laura.cook@alzheimers.org.uk
