Counselling

Crossroads Care in the Vale offers a free counselling service to carers of people with late-life dementia or depression living in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Crossroads Care counselling serviceWho can use the Crossroads Care Counselling Service?

Carers do not need to be using any other Crossroads Care services to take advantage of the counselling service. Sessions last one hour and take place in a private room at the Crossroads Care offices in Penarth.

In some circumstances it may be possible to arrange the counselling sessions in the carer’s own home.

How can Counselling help you?

Being a carer for someone with dementia can be challenging, and you may be faced with situations you have not previously encountered.

Often carers do not wish to burden relatives or friends with their worries, and find it easier to speak to someone who is not directly involved in their situation.

Counselling offers support and the chance to express feelings safely and in confidence. The Counsellor is not there to tell the carer what to do, but can help explore difficulties and ways of coping with them.

If you would like more information about the counselling service, or to speak to our Counsellor, Jayne Hill, please telephone (029) 2070 0057 (option 3).

• Jayne Hill, Crossroads Care’s Counsellor, is fully qualified with a PgDip in Therapeutic Counselling.
